And We’re Here to Tell You About It! Interview with Alexis B

No part of the country or world has been unaffected by the recent crisis. COVID-19 took us, along with many other businesses, schools, salons, and homes by surprise. Although we were unsure how distance learning would work at first, because of our amazing staff and students, we’ve been able to make it happen.

We wanted to ask some of the students how it’s been going for them. Check out this interview with Alexis B, a Cosmetology student at TSPA-Holland:

When are you expected to graduate?

I am expected to graduate the first week of August.

What has surprised you about distance learning?

I’m surprised at how easily we’re able to make this work and how fast TSPA got it up and running and worked out all the kinks to make it possible for us to still get our hours

What has been your favorite part?

My favorite part has been still being able to see all of my classmates. We are like a family and I love being able to see them and learn with them still through this hard time!

How have you connected with your TSPA family despite being physically distanced?

Going along with my answer above, I’ve been able to connect with my TSPA family more by seeing everyone at their worst meaning, nobody has makeup on right when they get on zoom in the morning and everyone is still in their pajamas and it’s cozy and I just feel like I’ve gotten to know everyone on a more personal level through distanced learning instead did just seeing everyone at school looking the same everyday and minding all our own business.

What do you hope changes/remains the same when you come back to school?

I hope we all connect as we are thru social distancing when we get back to school and I hope we can have more guest speakers and encourage each other everyday when we get back to school!

What encouragement do you have for your friends and family at TSPA during this time?

Stay strong and passionate about the choice you made to be at this school! There are always bumps in the road and that just gives us more motivation to keep pushing towards what we’re working for
