Recess Recap: Coastal Cowgirl Edition at TSPA Holland 🤠🌊
Life at The Salon Professional Academy of Holland isn’t just about mastering the perfect balayage or precision haircuts—we also know how to throw an amazing party! We recently hosted our latest student appreciation event, and the energy was absolutely electric.
This time around, the theme was Coastal Cowgirl. Our talented students and staff absolutely understood the assignment, blending beachy textures with rugged western flair. The campus was packed with denim, fringe, cowboy hats, and boots, proving once again that our TSPA family has style for days.
Here is a look inside our latest Recess at TSPA Holland event and the wild team challenge that kept everyone on their toes!
The Challenge: Trash Bag Aviation ✈️
Once everyone was settled into their team gear, we announced the day’s main event: a high-stakes engineering challenge. The mission? Build a functional airplane using only a single trash bag and a wire hanger.
To make things even more interesting, each team designated a leader, and the rules dynamically shifted throughout the timed activity. Just when teams found their rhythm, we threw a curveball: “Leaders can no longer touch the airplane—verbal directions only!”
Watching the groups communicate, pivot, and problem-solve under pressure was incredible. Once time ran out, the moment of truth arrived. The teams lined up and launched their creations to see whose airplane could fly the furthest. The competition was fierce, hilariously chaotic, and filled with plenty of cheering!
Lunch, Picnic & Yard Games 🌭☀️
After crowning our aviation champions, it was time to relax and refuel right there in the sunshine for lunch. We had Hoyt Barbecue Specialties come out to cook hotdogs fresh for us on-site, creating the perfect midday spread alongside chips, cookies, and ice-cold pop for all of the students and staff!
Everyone grabbed their food and enjoyed a relaxing picnic lunch together. During the lunch break, everyone was welcome to hang out, catch up, and play a variety of fun yard games before heading back to class.
Events like this Recess at TSPA Holland are such an important part of our culture. They give our future professionals a chance to step away from the styling chairs, bond as a community, and celebrate all of their amazing hard work together!
